Hickory Tree is an award-winning women's chorus dedicated to the all-American art form of singing four-part a cappella harmony in barbershop style.
Annual Scholarship
UPDATE! We are once again pleased to offer a $1,000 Scholarship to an area high school senior who intends to pursue a career in music. This scholarship will be given to a young woman selected on the basis of her application and her vocal musical talent. Presentation of the check to the recipient is usually in June, after her acceptance to the college or university of her choice. Details at our Scholarship page.
Tradition of Excellence Continues
At the Harmony Classic competition at the Sweet Adelines International Convention in Houston, Texas in October 2011, we won the title of 2nd best mid-size chorus in the world!
Hickory Tree Chorus was awarded medals in two categories in Sweet Adelines International's Greater New York Regional chorus contest on April 24, 2010 in Philadelphia, PA. We won second place overall, and first place in the "AA" Midsize Chorus Division with our highest score ever, and the highest score worldwide in that division! This entitles us to compete in the Harmony Classic Division AA, which is held at the International Competition and Convention, in Houston in 2011, like the main contest. 2010 marked our 26th year of winning Regional medals, and our 13th under Master Director Carolyn Schmidt. We were also extremely proud that six of our members were awarded medals for their performances with the quartets Escape, Drive!, and The Four Baris.
January 2012 Open House!

Hickory Tree Chorus invites you to our month-long, January 2012 Open House. All over the globe, Sweet Adelines International choruses are joining together this month to welcome women who want to share the joy of singing chord-ringing, fun-filled music with an amazing group of real women, singing real harmony and having real fun! Each week, Sweet Adelines International, a highly respected worldwide organization of women singers, encourages women all over the world to reach their full singing potential. There are unlimited training and educational opportunities, as well as spectacular performance and entertainment possibilities. Singing and performing a cappella music in the barbershop style is a joy you deserve.
Join the chorus, join the fun! Each January rehearsal is full of singing focused on a guest-friendly, performance-skill theme. Visit one, some, or all!

We are pleased to introduce Mark St. Germain's award-winning play, Freud's Last Session. It centers on legendary psychoanalyst Dr. Sigmund Freud, who invites a young, little-known professor, C.S. Lewis, to his home in London. Lewis, expecting to be called on the carpet for satirizing Freud in a recent book, soon realizes Freud has a much more significant agenda.
